Those 40 years on the board catching up with him, perhaps. Round 7: Probably Hunter just edging it here after the seven rounds of action but Povetkin has done so well to get back into this fight.
He's still throwing really meaningul, hurtful punches and he has Hunter backing up. Round 6: Hunter seems to have weathered that Povetkin storm from the fifth round.

Check left hook lands for Joshua. Ruiz throws a right hook that makes contact. Ruiz lands a shot right after a break and Joshua ties him up but Ruiz lands a couple of shots anyway!
Ruiz , Round 5: Ruiz comes out pressing hard right away and Joshua tries to create space using his jab and check hook.
Joshua lands another jab to the head and then steps back so he can step up the next one. Joshua is determined to make this a boxing match and not a fight, and largely having good success.

Round 6: Ruiz misses on a jab to the body. Uppercut lands clean for Joshua in a brief exchange. Ruiz wants to mix it up but Joshua thinks better of it and gets back on the move.

Joshua pops another jab and steps over again. Ruiz tries to club Joshua while Joshua was holding at the waist. Round 7: Joshua comes out on the move as he looks for an opening.
Ruiz tries to pick up his momentum by walking forward a bit faster but he walks into a check hook from Joshua. Ruiz tries a quick combination once he gets in close but takes a right hand from Joshua in return.
Joshua lands another shot as the fighters trade and Joshua grins. Joshua bounces around and then jumps in to deliberately clinch, getting a warning from the referee.
Round 8: Ruiz leads with a jab that falls a little short. Now Joshua measures with a jab and then stabs the body with a right hand before immediately clinching.
Joshua is making it look easy by utilizing the jab and even dug a nice left hook to the body. But Joshua continues to show good discipline by keeping Ruiz at the end of his jab and then punctuating it all with the straight right hand.
Well, here comes the round where the complexion of the first fight changed. Do we get the same here? He feinted in the opening sequence and showed good boxing from there.
He showed good footwork, a good jab and a hard straight right hand at the end of the round to give Ruiz a cut at the corner of his left eye.

Can Hunter do that again and possibly win the fight? Who can make necessary adjustment in the championship rounds? He's finding a home with the left hand on the inside.
That's Povetkin's best path to success. He needs to find a way to regain some momentum and seize control once again.
Povetkin fired back with a hard right hand of his own. Hunter being aggressive looks to be his best recipe of success. Jab to the body and then the power shots is working for him.
Let's see if he keeps doing it. Hunter needs to continue throwing those shots, and he can get himself right back in the fight.
